"Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf" (1 Cor 10:17)When Christians share in the Eucharist they eat bread and, of course, it becomes a part of their bodies. But in the process, the bread—the body of Christ—also consumes them. By partaking of the body of Christ they are united to that body and are constituted as part of it.
