It has helped me to review what the scriptures actually teach about the reach of salvation and nature of hell.
There is one scripture I have recently re-read which I still find hard to reconcile wiht a universalist understanding of salvation: Mark 14:21. In this Jesus appears to suggest that it would be better had Judas never been born. Surely that would be incorrect if uninversalism were true?
If you have any insight into understanding this verse in a compatible way I would be grateful if you would share.
Regards
PeterPeter Ricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06075273444948194621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2713231510890712652.post-71251913978352481282021-02-02T16:29:15.684+00:002021-02-02T16:29:15.684+00:00Is this why the author of the Letter to the Hebrew...Is this why the author of the Letter to the Hebrews spends so much time on chapter 1 disabusing his audience of the notion that the “Son” who has a “name above all others” necessarily must also be by necessity superior to the Angels? My name is Charles Slagle and my wife Paula and I ministered in England between 1984 and 94. In 94 George MacDonald's writings confirmed universal salvation to me and the knowledge of God's unconditional and committed love delivered me from many years of chronic depression and addiction. www.sigler.org/slagle tells the story. It's so exciting seeing this message spread, and thanks again for helping that happen! You have been in my prayers and will continue to be. I think that Thomas Talbot handles that passage pretty well in his book, The Inescapable Love of God, but I think the real answer is found in James Stuart Russell's book, the Parousia of Christ. If Russell is correct, which I believe to be the case, then the parable of the Sheep and Goats deals with how Jesus deals with nations not personal eschatology.http://www.a-zcomics.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14009984559991859426noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2713231510890712652.post-78793049825767651012009-10-28T09:31:08.061+00:002009-10-28T09:31:08.061+00:00Keith
